2 New Hoover Cordless Vacuums Look Like Ryobi Models

This week, I was looking through my email and clicked on an AcmeTools ad. As I scrolled through the page, I discovered that Hoover was creating new cordless tools. They were vacuums, so it was not surprising that they were. However, two of their new cordless vacuums drew my attention. Particularly the wet dry models BH57120 and BH57105. They looked familiar, I thought to myself, and thats because they are very similar to Ryobis own P770 27 Liters 18V wet dry vacuum and Ryobis P3240 14 Liters 18V wet dry vacuum.

HOOVER ONEPWR High-Capacity Wet/Dry Utility Vacuum (Tool Only) BH57120

You can see the Hoovers cordless model BH57120, which is a high-capacity wet dry utility vacuum. Under its specs list, its rated as having a 27 Liters capacity along with cordless wheels with dual 360 degree castors and plenty of onboard storage exactly the same features as Ryobis P770 18V 27 Liters wet dry vacuum model. The only difference between them is their color scheme. They aren’t exactly the same because of the differences in the batteries. For example, Ryobi uses stem pack batteries that have a stem that is inserted into its power tool while the Hoover variant uses a slide pack battery similar to just about all brands out there that use slide pack batteries. Hoover doesnt mention how many volts their cordless tools are however looking at the battery pack they use, it looks like a 5 celled pack thats probably using 21700 cells so its most likely an 18V/20V power tool and battery system. This means that the battery holder is different but I suspect this and the color scheme may be the only differences, at least the only ones I can tell. Actually theres another difference I found, a pretty big one, and thats in the performance department. Hoovers version is rated at 65 CFM of suction while Ryobis model is rated at a higher 80 CFM of suction.

  • Powerful performance delivers up to 65 CFM.

HOOVER ONEPWR Wet/Dry Cordless Utility Vacuum Kit BH57105

Things are a lot more similar when it comes to Hoovers BH57105 model as its rated to have a 14 Liters capacity with 45 CFM of suction performance, both of which are identical stats to the Ryobi original P3240 14 Liters 18V wet dry vacuum. The body appears identical except color scheme, branding, and battery holder as was also the case with the BH57120 model.

  • Lightweight & compact design makes it easy to carry and store.
  • Power-packed and portable for any wet or dry mess.
  • Powerful performance delivers up to 45 CFM.
  • 3 Gallon/11L easy-empty dirt tanks
  • Complete with onboard multi-purpose tool kit: Crevice Tool & Utility Nozzle.
  • Converts to a directional blower for versatile cleaning.
  • Reach above and beyond with a 1.8 m extendable hose.
  • Rotating air inlet allows for easy hose management to get the job done faster.

Prices for both Hoover units and Ryobi models are higher when it comes to baretool. However, the price of the 27 Liters model kit is the same as the price of the Hoover unit. The 14 Liters model in a kit is less expensive than Ryobi’s model.

What do you think of Hoover using existing Ryobi designs? What Hoover model would you choose to buy?
